Skijoring in Montana
A combination of rodeo and ski racing, the object of Skijoring is for horse and rider to get from start to finish in the fastest time possible while pulling a skier who must collect hoops on their arm (think jousting) while intermittently launching jumps.
It combines fast horses, cowgirls, ski bums and beer-drinking spectators.
And it’s quickly gaining popularity across the west. In 2017 Skijoring America recognized 12 sanctioned races across eight different states.
